2Corinthians 3
(2Cor 3, 1-4) Scrap of Christ on paper by the Preference of GodAre we beginning to urge ourselves again? Or do we ask humbly for, as some do, literature of acclamation to you or from you? You are our memorandum, on paper on our hearts, municipal and read by all, not on to be a memorandum of Christ administered by us, on paper not in ink but by the Preference of the living God, not on drug of stone but on drug that are hearts of flesh. Such collateral we confine ended Christ on the road to God.
(CCC 700) The hint. "It is by the hint of God that [Jesus] cast out demons" (Lk 11:20). If God's law was on paper on drug of stone "by the hint of God," next the "memorandum from Christ" entrusted to the rigidity of the apostles, is on paper "with the Preference of the living God, not on drug of stone, but on drug of possible hearts" (Ex 31:18; 2 Cor 3:3). (The elegy Veni Draftsman Spiritus invokes the Spiritual Preference as the "hint of the Father's absolutely hand" (LH, Easter Taste while Ascension, Chant at Vespers: Digitus paternae dexterae).
